Kyle Sichi is the Minister of Chemistry in the Kingdom of Graycastle and former chief alchemist of Redwater City. Kyle spends his time either in the Chemistry Labs or in a secondary laboratory in the Third Border City.
Appearance[]
A man in his 50s, Kyle has strong facial structure, along with grey hair and a mustache. The manhua adaption shows him to wear a monocle along with a lab coat and tie.
Personality[]
Kyle Sichi is wholeheartedly felt for alchemy and chemistry.
He is a straightforward person and dislikes the etiquette and courtesy of noble men. For this reason, he asked numerous times for Roland to choose an overseer for the lab, who would report to him; though Kyle is always willing to go in person if it pertains to experiments. He in turn can be reckless, as after hearing Nana healed his small but near-fatal injuries from a small lab explosion, Kyle was more than willing to throw caution to the wind.
Kyle ultimately accepts the position as Minister of Chemistry, knowing full-well the position allowed him the freedom to conduct more experiments unless an emergency meeting needing chemical knowledge is called.
Kyle can be both humble and smug. He admits to Chavez, his apprentice, that his knowledge of the world and alchemy was nothing until Roland gave him new knowledge; "I used to think alchemy was about finding order in the chaos. But now I know that everything has its own defined set of rules to follow". When Roland invited him to the alchemy shop at the king's city to prove his superior knowledge to the alchemists still believing the old and incorrect methods (as part of Roland's plan to recruit them), Kyle showed them all the true path of science and reminded them that he had been the apprentice they had once turned away.
Background[]
After being rejected by the King's City Alchemy Guild, he dreamed of surpassing them and proving his excellence.
Chronology[]
Kyle was the respected chief alchemist of the Redwater Alchemy Guild, when he received a letter from the Fourth Prince. Thinking it was only a minor matter, he neglected to read it until later that night. When he finally read the letter, he was amazed by its contents. The letter in detail described chemical reactions of copper, silver and iron, and at the end invited to visit Border Town for knowledge. Kyle realized all his alchemy work was nothing compared to mysterious sage and with no hesitation went to the town.
Abilities[]
Genius Intellect[]
Kyle was an experienced master alchemist prior to his recruitment by Roland. However, he can admit to his own shortcomings when presented with modern chemistry. Quick to understand the new knowledge, he was also able to combine his knowledge of chemistry with the information in the physics book to open new paths he previously thought impossible in alchemy.
Relationships[]
Roland Wimbledon[]
Kyle follows Roland simply for the opportunity to discover more things about alchemy. As such, he is not as respectful towards him as others normally are. After being gifted a copy of the Periodic Table, which contained every element known (in Roland's original world), he comes to respect him for the vast knowledge.
Agatha[]
Contrary to Roland's initial belief, Kyle gets along quite well with the ancient witch; both of them respect the other for the pursuit of knowledge. Agatha noted that Kyle would have been respected and valued in her era for his brilliance. They work together in nitroglycerin development.
Trivia[]
- Before moving to City of Neverwinter, Kyle had been writing "Book of Alchemy" to inspire future alchemists and leave memory of himself.
